The popular Greek series Maestro in Blue is set to begin production on its highly anticipated fourth season, with creator and star Christoforos Papakaliatis hinting at the return on social media.
The new season will introduce fresh faces, unexpected twists, and new locations, promising to captivate audiences in Greece and globally on Netflix and the Greek channel MEGA.
The countdown began when Papakaliatis posted an image on Instagram with the caption: “The time has come. New season. Episode 1 – Maestro in Blue. Rehearsals have begun! Stay tuned!”
Filming is scheduled to begin on September 22 in Athens before the production crew moves to the series’ primary setting of Paxos. The cast will then travel to Budapest, Hungary, a new location that is expected to introduce significant changes to the plot.
The fourth season will welcome two new additions to the main cast: Giorgos Chrysostomou and Anthi Efstratiadou. Their characters are set to play decisive roles, bringing pivotal twists to the lives of the existing protagonists.
Actress Stefania Goulioti confirmed in a recent interview that the new plot takes the characters “a little bit everywhere,” from their familiar island setting to new international locales. She assured fans that the script is full of surprises and emotional tension, staying true to the series’ identity.
The third season’s finale left viewers with many unanswered questions, and the new season is expected to resolve those cliffhangers while introducing fresh conflicts, relationships, and dramatic developments that have become the hallmark of the show.
Maestro in Blue, now heading into its fourth season, made history
Maestro in Blue made history as the first Greek television series to be acquired by Netflix for global distribution, a landmark achievement for Greek television production.
Shortly after its release in March 2023, the show quickly entered Netflix’s global Top 10 list, a rare feat for a series of its origin.
It performed particularly well in several countries, reaching the Top 10 in 53 nations. It ranked very high in places like Argentina, Israel, Malta, Poland, Romania, Turkey, and Uruguay. In the US and Australia, it also climbed into the Top 10.
The show’s success has also brought international attention to the Greek islands, where it was filmed, particularly Paxos, with many viewers expressing a desire to visit the locations from the series.
