The EuroLeague Final Four will return to Athens in 2026, marking the fourth time Greece has hosted the premier basketball event. The decision was made following a vote by EuroLeague shareholders, with the Telekom Center Athens (formerly OAKA Indoor Arena) chosen to host the tournament from May 22-24, 2026.

Athens secured the bid with a clear majority, receiving eight votes compared to Belgrade’s three, with two blank votes. According to reports from BasketNews, the cost of hosting is estimated to be around nine million euros.

First Final Four of EuroLeague in Greece since 2007

This will be the first Final Four on Greek soil since 2007, when Panathinaikos won the trophy at the same venue. The tournament was previously held in Greece in 1993 (Piraeus) and 2000 (Thessaloniki). The 2025 Final Four was hosted in Abu Dhabi, marking the first time the event was held outside of Europe.

The Final Four is considered the ultimate prize in European club basketball. Victory elevates a club to the status of European champion and is a source of immense pride for fans.

Two Greek teams have won the EuroLeague competition: Panathinaikos and Olympiacos. Panathinaikos has won the championship seven times (1996, 2000, 2002, 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2024), while Olympiacos has won the championship three times (1997, 2012, and 2013).

Together, they are among the most successful clubs in the history of the competition.
