Taylor Swift is now the wealthiest female musician in the world.

At 34-years-old, her net worth has reached $1.6 billion, as reported by Forbes. Before her, Rihanna held the top spot, with a peak net worth of $1.7 billion. However, Rihanna’s wealth has since dropped to $1.4 billion.

Swift’s fortune grew rapidly in October, mainly because of her successful Eras Tour and recent albums. According to Bloomberg, Swift is one of few artists to earn this much money from music alone.

Swift started off The Eras Tour in Arizona in March 2023. She toured across the U.S. in the summer and finished the first part of the tour in August in Los Angeles.

In February, she took the tour to international locations and plans to end her performances in December, returning to the U.S. at that time. Forbes reported that the tour could earn $1.5 billion, depending on ticket prices.

Swift made the decision to release her concert film exclusively in theaters. “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” premiered on October 13, 2023, earning $92.8 million in its first weekend.

After becoming a billionaire, Swift launched her eleventh studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department”, in April. While many artists face financial challenges in the streaming era, Swift continues to thrive.

Branding expert Doug Eldridge told FOX Business that Swift has a unique ability to profit from her talent. He explained that while many musicians have lost money as album sales shifted to digital downloads, Swift has successfully since adapted, using technology to her advantage instead of being left behind.

Dr. Sonja Stribling, a retired U.S. Army Major and author of the upcoming book “From the Battlefield to the Boardroom”, noted that Taylor Swift has essentially transformed the music industry for female artists.

Stribling emphasized that Taylor Swift’s impact goes beyond her financial success. Speaking to FOX Business, Stribling said, “It is not just the money she is making, which is very important, but she is creating a pathway for other people to follow.”

“I know without a doubt that her and Beyoncé have had a conversation about this because they are paving the way for others to follow. They are the first of many – especially for women – leading the way. So, it’s not just billionaire status, but Taylor is about to go down in [the] history of setting high goals for others to want to achieve.”

“I know that only 1% of this population in the industry that she operates in, and maybe even less than that, will achieve what she has achieved, and she makes it look so simple,” she added.
