Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made history as the first wrestler to be immortalized as a waxwork in Paris’ Musee Grevin, surprising fans.

The highly anticipated wax figure of the actor and former professional wrestler was unveiled at the prestigious Musée Grevin in Paris, France on Monday, October 16th. The sculpt accurately captures Johnson’s signature muscular physique, tattoos, and signature shaved head, showcasing a realistic look of Johnson.

Fans reacted to The Rock’s waxwork with jokes and criticism

Fans, however, were quick to notice the statue’s quirks, leading to jokes and criticism. The waxwork split the internet, with some poking fun at the sculpture, suggesting it might resemble his stunt double more than the star himself. The public expressed opinions about the quality of the wax figure, contrasting it with the museum’s usual standards.

Amid playful jokes, one online commenter quipped, “Anyone else think there’s something wrong with the wax statue or that they made it look like a jacked-up Billy Zane with a shellfish allergy?”

The inclusion of Dwayne Johnson’s waxwork is the result of a Grévin Awards competition, launched by the museum in March 2022. It invited users to vote on which international star they would like to see immortalized in wax. Among ten celebrities competing, including Ariana Grande, Tom Holland, Zendaya and many more, Johnson won with forty-eight percent of the total votes.

Now, Johnson’s wax figure stands among other renowned stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, and Meryl Streep in the Salle des Colonnes.

Dwayne Johnson to Become Hollywood’s Top Earner

Earlier this year, the actor made headlines with his role in the highly anticipated action film Red One. He shared the screen with an ensemble cast that included Chris Evans, JK Simmons, Lucy Liu, and Nick Kroll.

Johnson earned fifty million dollars, breaking records previously held by Robert Downey Jr. and Will Smith. Although the movie’s storyline remained under wraps, Johnson portrayed the character of Commander Callum Drift under the direction of Jake Kasdan. Evans praised Johnson’s exceptional talent and charm, highlighting his excitement for venturing into the realm of a festive Christmas-themed action comedy, a genre relatively unexplored in his career.

Born in 1972, Dwayne Johnson’s journey from college football to wrestling, marked by his persona “The Rock,” led to a successful transition into Hollywood. Starting with “The Mummy Returns” and “The Scorpion King,” he gained recognition in action films like Fast Five, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and its sequel.

Additionally, following his gym dedication, Dwayne Johnson’s Under Armour collection, Project Rock, sells clothing, shoes, and headphones.
