Hollywood actor and producer Tom Cruise expressed his love for Greece and Greek culture during a recent interview at the premiere of his new movie in London last week.

Cruise, who is famous for performing his own stunts, is currently promoting his latest film, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the seventh installment in the highly successful Mission: Impossible series.

The actor and producer’s last film to hit the silver screen, Top Gun: Maverick broke several records and became the sixth-highest-grossing movie in US domestic box office history, having collected $683 million in North America.

The Hollywood actor was talking to the press at the London premiere of the latest Mission: Impossible movie when one of the reporters informed him that he was from Greece.

“How are you? Nice to meet you too. Thank you for being here,” Cruise politely replied before adding, “I love Greece. Great food, great people.”

When asked about the movie itself, Cruise explained “This is the biggest and most luxurious. It’s a huge, epic adventure that’s split into two parts.”

“The scope of the film is very wide. I make my films for the big screen only. This film is unprecedented,” the actor added.

According to the synopsis of the latest movie, “Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands.”

“With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins,” the film’s description continues. “Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.”

The trailer gives a taste of all the action set pieces and daring stunts fans of the Mission: Impossible series have come to expect. Late last year, Cruise shared a behind-the-scenes clip of one of the stunts for the movie where he rode off of the top of a cliff on a motorbike before performing a base jump.

“This is far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted,” the 60-year-old actor said at the time.

The stunt coordinator for the film, Wade Eastwood, explained that Cruise had to study and train to perfect his skills. He spent “a year of base training, advanced sky-dive training, a lot of canopy skills, a lot of tracking.”

Tom’s coach Miles Daisher described the star as an “amazing individual” and praised him for his dedication in doing his own stunts. “You tell him something, and he just locks it in,” he said, talking about “his sense of spatial awareness” and adding that “he is the most aware person [he has] ever met.”
