An elderly American couple who went missing in Greece in late January this year were discovered dead in Taygetos mountain range.

The missing couple were identified as David Harrison Robinson and his wife Lucretia Robinson. The pair were both from the United States but had lived in the Peloponnese region of Greece for the past few years.

According to reports, efforts are presently underway to recover the bodies, which were located after their vehicle was spotted.

On Friday, local media reported that the couple had been found dead in a ravine in Taygetos.

The authorities were alerted after the car of the missing couple was discovered in the “Five Streets” area. After the authorities were informed of this discovery on Friday morning, the police and fire departments rushed out to search the local area for signs of the missing couple.

Personnel from one of the Hellenic Fire Service’s elite EMAK teams used a drone to scour the surroundings for the missing Robinsons until they found both bodies in a ravine.

Emergency services had previously searched the area for signs of the missing couple but had not been able to detect their bodies as they were searching in different spots.

Disappearance in January

83-year-old David Harrison Robinson and 80-year-old Lucretia Robinson left their home on January 23, 2023, with a possible destination of Monemvasia in Laconia. However, they went missing sometime after their departure from home.

The missing couple had been living in an area of Methoni in the southern Peloponnese for the last few years.

In the days following their disappearance the couple’s daughter, who is in the US, made a social media post in which she seemed to think that her parents ended their lives voluntarily.

“My parents are officially missing and presumed dead of their own accord,” she wrote. “They were in Greece when it happened; I don’t know where they went to end their lives, so until their bodies are found I need the help of my community to stay functional,” she added,  but did not explain why she thinks her parents committed suicide.
