Prime Video, the popular streaming service, has announced the postponement of the release of the first trailer for its highly expected global spy series created by Anthony and Joe Russo.

This decision was made in response to the tragic events that took place in Greece, where a passenger train collided with a freight train, resulting in the loss of at least 57 lives and leaving numerous others injured.

Although the exact details of the trailer’s contents remain undisclosed, sources suggest that the series features scenes on a train, as evident from the recently released first-look images of stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden in a luxury dining car.

The Greek Fire Service reported on Wednesday that a tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night, resulting in the loss of at least 57 lives, as two trains collided in Greece.

According to Vassilis Varthakogiannis, a spokesperson for the Greek Fire Service, 72 individuals were also injured, with 57 of them still receiving treatment at various hospitals. Among the injured, six individuals are currently in intensive care.

The spokesperson also shared that search and rescue operations are ongoing, and at present, at least 72 firefighters with 24 vehicles are actively involved in the rescue mission.

During the briefing, it was revealed that DNA samples are being used to identify the deceased. As stated by Constantia Dimoglidou, a spokesperson for the Greek police, this is a necessary process to ensure accurate identification of the victims.

Citadel’s first teaser already released

Citadel’s first teaser was already released on March 1, 2023. The teaser offered viewers a sneak peek of the lead actors, Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, creating excitement among fans of the genre.

Earlier this week, the makers shared a few first-look photos of the show, which showcased the stars in a luxury dining car, generating even more buzz.

However, in a recent press statement, Prime Video announced that the release of the official trailer would be postponed, citing respect for the international community in the aftermath of the tragic news from Greece.

The streaming service expressed its condolences, stating that they are holding back the trailer out of consideration for the devastating events that took place.

Among the most expensive series

As per a report from Hollywood Reporter, the Russo Brothers, who are the show’s creators, and the production company, Appelbaum-Nemec, had creative differences.

As a result, half of the creative team had to leave, and the show was forced into a round of expensive reshoots.

Insider reports that the costs of the show ballooned from an estimated $165 million for 10 episodes lasting 30 minutes each to $300 million for six episodes. However, a source familiar with the company’s thinking disputes this, claiming that the total cost was under $200 million.

Regardless of the exact figure, it is clear that the costs of the show have increased significantly due to the reshoots.
