Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named a team captain and starter for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, the league announced on Thursday.
This marks the seventh consecutive season that he has been voted an All-Star Game starter and third time he has been selected as a team captain. With his seventh All-Star selection, Antetokounmpo passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most All-Star selections in franchise history.
In his 10th NBA season, Antetokounmpo is averaging a career-high 31.0 points (T-3rd in NBA), 12.0 rebounds (2nd in NBA) and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 52.6% from the field.
Leading the Bucks to a 31-17 record so far this season, Antetokounmpo’s scored 30+ points 22 times, including 40+ points eight times and a career-high 55-point performance on Jan. 3, tallied 27 double-doubles, two triple-doubles and an NBA-best 17 games with 30+ points and 10+ rebounds.

Who joins Antetokounmpo in the All-Star Game
Joining Antetokounmpo as starters for the 72nd NBA All-Star Game are Jayson Tatum (Boston), Kevin Durant (Brooklyn), Kyrie Irving (Brooklyn) and Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland)
In the Eastern Conference and LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Stephen Curry (Golden State), Luka Dončić (Dallas), Nikola Jokić (Denver) and Zion Williamson (New Orleans) in the Western Conference.
The rosters for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game will be determined through the NBA All-Star Draft, where the two team captains, Antetokounmpo and James, will select from the pool of starters and reserves in each conference and make their picks without regard to conference affiliation.
For the first time, the NBA All-Star Draft will take place right before the game. The reserves for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, selected the NBA head coaches, will be announced on Thursday, Feb. 2.
Starters for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game were selected by fans, current NBA players and a media panel. Fans accounted for 50 percent of the vote to determine the starters, while players and media accounted for 25 percent each.
