A new Icelandic airline is currently offering cheap flights between Greece and USA for as little as 199 USD each way when purchasing a return ticket but only for a limited time.
PLAY, the low-cost Icelandic airline launched in 2019, offers transatlantic flights between the U.S. and Europe and already has twenty-seven destinations in its route network.
Its first flight to Athens will be June 2, 2023. The airline will operate two flights a week, with a quick stopover in Iceland until then end of October 2023.
Cheap flights between Greece and USA
“We’re thrilled to announce our newest destination is one of the world’s oldest cities,” PLAY airlines noted Athens. “The capital city of Greece is often called the cradle of western civilization and the birthplace of democracy.”
“The city is a vibrant one with historical sights and a magnificent food culture, where fresh ingredients and healthy cuisine of the Mediterranean come together,” it added.
PLAY’s introductory sale price for Greece-USA flights can only be booked until midnight Saturday, October 29, 2022 and applies for flights from Baltimore, Boston, New York, and Washington only on Sundays between June 4th to June 18th and September 3rd to October 15th of 2023.
The advertised fare is per person, per one-way flight when booking round-trip flights to Athens ATH via Iceland KEF from Baltimore BWI, Boston BOS, New York SWF, and Washington DC on the airline’s own website. It is inclusive of all mandatory taxes, fees, and carrier charges, but restrictions and baggage fees apply.
New option for traveling from Iceland and USA to Greece
Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, said the airline’s new route will be a tremendous opportunity for Icelanders to get to Athens while this will also add to the flight options for travelers looking to get between Athens and the U.S.
“From Athens International Airport you can fly to Santorini, Mykonos, Crete and Rhodes,” Jónsson commented. “So this route will be a great option for travelers in the U.S., Greece and Iceland.”
The Icelandic low-cost airline launched with the core motto Pay less, PLAY more, meaning that “PLAY´s customers spend less on their airfare and can therefore spend more enjoying themselves at the destinations PLAY flies them to,” according to its website.
