The Hellinikon Park, which is currently under development just south of Athens, will be bigger than both London’s Hyde Park and Central Park in New York City.

In fact, when completed, the Hellinikon (Ellinikon) Park will be the largest coastal park in all of Europe.

Lamda Development presented the designs for the park on Wednesday. The massive green space will be part of the massive Hellinikon regeneration project at the former Athens airport. Lamda stated that the Hellinikon Park will be completed in 2025.

Hellinikon Park part of ambitious project

The entire Hellinikon Project constitutes the largest greenfield urban infrastructure development investment in Europe, specifically planned to trigger significant new investments in tourism, culture, entrepreneurship, innovation, and the environment, which are expected to result in positive impacts, not only for the region of Attica but for the whole country.

Part of the massive park already opened around the holidays. The section of the Hellinikon Park that is open to the public features a fountain with hundreds of jets of water, an outdoor fitness area, a playground with environmentally-friendly equipment, and a Zen garden with water elements.

“The Hellinikon Park is more than just a large, green park. It is a new proposal for a new way of life, not just in our country but across the world, in which nature, humans, and advanced applications of technology coexist,” said Odysseas Athanasiou, Chief Executive Officer of Lambda Development.

“The Hellinikon Park will be a park-experience for people of all ages,” he stressed.

The Chief Development Officer of Lamda Development, Melina Paizi, praised the park, calling it a “Park-prototype at the international level, which amounts to the heart of the Hellinikon Project.”

“It is a contemporary park, each section of which will have its own personality, offering distinct activities and experiences, showing both the rich cultural heritage and contemporary image of Greece,” she continued.

The park will include the Olympic Square, which will celebrate Greece’s legacy of the Olympic Games, as well as an amphitheater which can be used for events and concerts.

Additionally, the park will serve as an open-air art gallery featuring the works of modern art and sculpture, particularly of Greek artists.

The impressive Marina Tower at Hellinikon to be largest building in Greece

The Marina Tower at Hellinikon in the Athens Riviera is going to be the tallest building in Greece when it is completed.

Lamda Development, the company behind the ambitious project, presented their plans for Greece’s first skyscraper last year.

The new building can be classified as a skyscraper at 45 floors. Those floors will contain 200 apartments, which will mostly consist of one to four bedroom units. Every unit is designed to have a balcony.

One of the selling points of the building is that it is being billed as a “green” building. The high rise, which will be the tallest “green” coastal skyscraper in the entirety of the Mediterranean region, boasts vertical gardens along its length as well as some of the newest environmentally-friendly features in architecture.
