A Chinese singer named Elpida Wu recently released a video where she performs a Greek song by pop artist Helena Paparizou in perfect Greek.

The song called “Mazi sou” (‘Together’ in Greek) which appeared on YouTube has become an instant hit in social media.

“The official video clip for the beautiful love song ‘Together’ by Helena Paparizou has finally arrived,” Elpida Wu said on YouTube. “Despite the difficulties I encountered during my interpretation, I finally succeeded! I hope you like my song and performance!” she added.

Her admiration for Greece is so great that she uploads videos in which she speaks and sings in Greek, in order, as she said in a recent interview, to bring the two countries closer.

And when she does not sing or guide Greeks to the secrets of her country, she translates poems in both languages.

Chinese singer conveys her love for Greece to her compatriots

Through her videos, Elpida tries not only to convey her love for Greece to her compatriots, but also to highlight her own homeland for the Greek public.

In this way, she pointed out in an interview with iefimerida, she helps in strengthening the relations between Greece and China.

The countries may be very different, but according to her they also have several common themes, such as their long history, the kindness of the people, and the fact that they embrace different cultures.

In 2021, Elpida participated in a video where professors and students in Chinese universities performed Dionysis Savvopoulos’s song “Let the dances keep,” to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.

During the academic year 2015-2016, she studied in Corfu through a student exchange program. She says she loves Corfu as much as Crete, but she is not so keen on Santorini.

“When I went to Santorini, I saw a lot of Chinese people and I felt like I was in China, not in Greece,” she said.
