Greece to Mandate Use of Masks as Country is Set to Reopen

Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday that two more people had succumbed from the coronavirus, bringing the death toll in the country to 135, whereas there were only 17 new cases.
Greek Health Ministry spokesman Sotiris Tsiodras said that the expert committee advising the government on how to reopen the economy has suggested the mandatory use of masks for indoor venues which attract a large number of people. It has also proposed the gradual reopening of schools and universities.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is to announce the easing of measures put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus in a speech to the nation on Tuesday at 6 PM, government spokesman Stelios Petsas said.
He added that the announcement is to be followed by separate briefings by different ministers.
According to press reports, the lifting of restrictions will begin on May 4 with the opening of small retail stores, including hairdressers and beauty salons.
It is also thought that movement restrictions will be lifted on the same day by ending the process through which people must apply via sms before they venture out of their homes.
