Greek Police Quarantined After Man Claiming to Be COVID Positive Spits on Them

A 26-year-old Greek man was transferred on Monday to an Athens mental hospital after he attacked and spat on police officers while claiming he was infected with the coronavirus.
The man went into a tantrum on Sunday evening in the southern Athenian suburb of Vari.
He was apprehended by police after he was seen smashing cars. When police tried to arrest him, he started spitting at the  officers and shouting that he had been infected with coronavirus when he was in the UK.
He was taken to the local police station, where it was confirmed that the suspect had indeed been in the UK before his arrival in Greece and that he had violated the 14-day quarantine required by the new measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
More than a dozen police officers at the scene of his arrest and the local police station were quarantined as a precaution, until medical tests are carried out to determine whether the suspect is a carrier of the disease.
The suspect has been transferred to the Dromokaiteio Psychiatric Hospital in Athens.
