The owners of the ”Le Grec” Greek restaurant in Trois Rivieres, near Montréal, Canada recently proved that being a boss does not have to mean being tough and pinching pennies; on the contrary, they showed their staff that they see them like members of their extended family.
Ioanna and Dimitris Yannopoulos, the owners of the long-established restaurant, decided to take advantage of the weeks when their business would remain closed for renovation work to offer each member of their staff an unbelievable all-expenses-paid trip to the Dominican Republic.
The two restaurant owners will pay tens of thousands of dollars to offer this unique opportunity for relaxation to their dozens of staff members, in a move that not only surprised them, but also made them wonder for a few moments whether it could even be true.
Speaking to interviewers from the local Montreal Gazette newspaper, Cindy Robert, who has been working at Le Grec for nineteen years now, admitted that she couldn’t believe her ears at first.
”It’s just pure euphoria. These aren’t bosses like other bosses, they’re family,” she told her interviewers.
An astounding 62 members of Le Grec’s staff will enjoy their days off in this sunny Caribbean paradise, making their decision to work for this Greek restaurant most likely one of the best decisions of their lives!
The restaurant’s renovations will take place after the establishment celebrated its 60th consecutive year of operation.
Jimmy Dédopoulos, Ioanna Yannopoulos’ great uncle, opened the restaurant way back in 1959.
The restaurant is run as a family, with most of its staff having worked there for more than a decade. Two of its employees have been working there for a whopping 41 years each, making Le Grec literally their job of a lifetime.
