Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos‘ film “The Favourite” won the award for Best European Movie of the Year during Saturday’s European Film Awards that took place in Berlin, Germany.

Lanthimos and his film’s lead actress Olivia Colman also managed to win in their respective categories of best director and best lead actress.

Lanthimos’ movie swept the night’s awards by gaining the “Best Comedy”, “Best Editing” “Best Costume”, “Best Makeup” and “Best Scenography” categories as well.

The European Film Awards are Europe’s version of the American Academy Awards (Oscars) and Britain’s BAFTAs.

Earlier this year, Colman had been named Best Actress at the 2019 Oscars for her portrayal of Queen Anne in the same film.
