A massive Greek flag was fastened onto a rooftop, covering an entire house in Greece’s Nea Kios, in the Peloponnesian Peninsula on Saturday.
Ahead of the ”Oxi Day” celebrations on Monday, October 28, Giannis Athanasopoulos, the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Argos – Mycenae, covered his entire house with a 140-square-meter (1,507 square foot) Greek flag.
On Monday, Greeks are celebrating the 79th anniversary of Greece’s vehement rejection of Italy’s demand to surrender and allow Axis powers to occupy strategic locations of the country during World War II.
Traditionally, people decorate their balconies or windows with Greek flags to commemorate the country’s defiance of Fascism and its heroic entry into WWII on the side of the Allies.
However, it is not known if any Greek anywhere has ever covered the facade of his entire house with a flag of such dimensions, the size of the footprint of an average house.
