The Hellenic Initiative (THI) managed to raise a stunning $2.3 million during its 7th annual gala that took place in New York on September 27.

The event was an absolute success, raising money to support young and innovative entrepreneurs in Greece.

Officials both from Greece and the Greek American community attended the Hellenic Initiative gala, among which were the Minister for Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Greek Diaspora Antonis Diamataris and the Deputy Minister of Labor Domna Michaelides.

Archbishop Elpidophoros was also there, to assist the efforts of THI.

Greek-American businessmen, including John Calamos, John Koudounis, Michael Psaros, John Catsimatides and Dean Metropoulos also attended the gala.

Panos Mouzourakis, the Greek singer and Voice of Greece judge, was also there as the Master of Ceremonies, adding his own, distinct style to the night.

THI Board of Directors and President George Stamas welcomed the attendees and noted during his welcome speech that THI has already added many more achievements since last year’s gala, continuing to support Greece and its future.

Since its foundation, the Hellenic Initiative has invested over $16.5 million in supporting Greeks who have struggled due to the financial crisis, both by providing humanitarian aid and by funding economic development programs.

The Hellenic Initiative shifted its focus in 2020 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, recognizing the immense impact the virus could have on vulnerable Greeks.
