Greek Police Detain Senior Member of "Rubicon" Anarchist Group

George Kalaitzidis, a leading member of the infamous Greek anarchist group Rubicon (Rouvikonas) was reportedly detained by Greek police on Monday.
According to media reports, the member of the group is most likely under arrest, but this has not yet been confirmed by official police sources.
Following Sunday’s vandalism, in which red paint was splashed on the central Athens facade of the building which houses the offices of the Greek (Hellenic) Federation of Enterprises, two more members of the group have been detained.
Police will question them in regard to the vandalism of the Federation’s headquarters.
As for Kalaitzidis, he recently uploaded a public post to Facebook, suggesting that ”if the Right (referring to the new Greek government) escalates its repression against us, we will respond accordingly.”
Kalaitzidis threatened to vandalize a series of highly popular tourist sites in Athens, suggesting that his team was ready to ”intervene,” as his team calls the vandalism incidents, even at the famed Acropolis Museum.
“Rubicon,” which was formed in 2013, has carried out scores of attacks in different places, mainly in Athens.
Greek authorities suspect that the group has a total of approximately 150 members, who regularly vandalize public and private properties and monuments in the Greek capital.
