Spanish Coach Manolo Jimenez Returns to Salvage AEK

Jimenez cerebrates winning the title with AEK in 2018

Manolo Jimenez, the Spanish coach who led AEK to its first championship title in 24 years last season, has signed a contract to return for a third stint at the Athenian football club.
Jimenez, who is expected to sign an 18-month contract, will replace Marios Ouzounidis who resigned earlier on Tuesday after racking up a series of disappointing results.
AEK failed to maintain the form it displayed last season, languishing in third place in the Greek SuperLeague and finishing its short-lived Champions League campaign with zero points.
Jimenez, who was sacked by Spanish club Las Palmas in November, will take the reins of AEK for a third time, having helmed the team during the 2010-2011 and 2017-2018 seasons.
