Elon Musk's Tesla Presents Plan for Green Energy on Greek Islands

A delegation from American energy giant Tesla presented proposals to the Greek government for the electrification of Greek islands which are not currently connected to the mainland power grid, in Athens, on Tuesday.
The Athens News Agency reports that three Tesla executives met with Energy Minister Giorgos Stathakis and outlined their vision for Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and electricity storage systems. It is Tesla’s belief that the installation of these systems would substantially reduce the cost of electricity as well as protect the environment.
According to Greek officials, the combination of RES and storage batteries, which would replace the diesel units now in operation, will be 30 percent cheaper than any available alternatives of which the energy ministry is now aware.
They also discussed how the Tesla company could help reduce Greek dependency on fossil fuel, especially for the islands which are not scheduled to join the mainland power grid in the coming years.
The delegation from Tesla will stay in Athens until the end of the week and confer with  industry technicians and consultants in order to further refine the proposal.
Elon Musk’s company, considered to be a worldwide leader in innovative power-saving technologies, established “Tesla Greece” in March of 2018, an engineering facility which they hope will lead to a state of the art research and development center in Athens.
