According to a list published on Monday by Wikimedia’s “Community User Group for Greece, the online searches made by Greek people last year were heavily dominated by politics.
The data revealed by Wikipedia showed that Greeks made 358.8 million visits to the website’s Greek-language page. “Greece”, “Macedonia” and “Alexander the Great” came in first, second, and third on the list respectively.
Two other terms in the top ten were politically related as well, with ”FYROM”, the abbreviation for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, coming in at number four and  the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, in seventh place.
Many of the nonpolitical searches conducted by Greeks in 2018 were about the Spanish Netflix series ”Casa del Papel” (the phrase that was searched was “Money heist”) which came in at fifth place on the list.
The British scientist Stephen Hawking came in at number six, followed by the terms ”Athens”, in eighth place, ”List of Greek television series” in ninth, and the famous Portugese football player ”Christiano Ronaldo” in tenth place.
