''Avoid Provocations or You'll Pay a Heavy Price'', Turkey's Akar Warns Greece

In a statement made on Wednesday, Greece’s Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis’ said ”if Turkish forces land on a rocky islet in the Aegean, it [the islet] will be razed.”
In response, Hulusi Akar, Turkey’s Defence Minister said that ”everyone should avoid provocations” adding that those who do not avoid them ”will have to pay a heavy price”.
Akar has repeatedly talked about Greek and Cypriot ”provocations” in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean. On Thursday Akar said Turkey’s ”blue land” will be defended by the Turkish armed forces and any retreat from Turkey’s rights in the region will not be allowed.
During the past week, the Greek-Turkish relations saw an unprecedented escalation in tensions, following a series of airspace violations of the Greek FIR by Turkish fighter jets, the Chief of the Greek National Defense General Staff, Admiral Apostolakis warned Turkey over a possible incident in the Aegean Sea, only to be followed by the Greek Defence Minister Panos Kammenos, who said that ”if they [the Turkish army] make the slightest move, we will crush them”.
