The two Greek soldiers jailed in Adrianople (Edirne) for inadvertently straying into Turkish territory will spend at least one month behind bars, according to local media.
A state-run Anadolu Agency report claimed lawyers of the two Greek junior officers are scheduled to meet a Turkish judge on March 30 to discuss the case. Until then, the pair will remain in custody.
Lieutenant Angelos Mitretodis and Sergeant Dimitris Kouklatzis were arrested for entering Turkey at the Evros border after they lost their way due to heavy snowfall during a routine patrol on March 1.
The two Greek soldiers are being held in a maximum security prison in Edirne. Turkish authorities have allowed their parents to visit them.
Greek Deputy Defense Minister Fotis Kouvelis promised the families of the two men that the Greek government will secure their safe return.
