The Sky's the Limit on China-Greece Relations Says Greek Alt Foreign Affairs Minister (video)

In an exclusive interview with Greek Reporter in New York, Greek Alternate Foreign Affairs Minister, George Katrougalos, says that there is a wide window of opportunity to strengthen economic relations with China.
Greece has already capitalized on its privileged geographical position as a bridge between Europe, Africa and Asia in securing “the huge Chinese investment of Cosco in the Piraeus Port”, Mr. Katrougalos said.
This was the start of a mutually beneficial relationship. He also noted that a series of intergovernmental ministerial meeting will take place in Athens and Shanghai, where further possibilities of cooperation will be explored, including Chinese investments to Greece.
“It is a continuous process, and we will try to explore possibilities of further cooperation as systematically as we can”.
The sky’s the limit, he said. By economic exchange and commerce both countries have a lot to win. All countries are interdependent – that applies to China, the second biggest economic power, as well as Greece.
Mr Katrougalos noted that Greece has only but respect for China. “After all we are both ancient civilizations,” he said.
The Greek minister also commented on this week’s announcement by  Greek Reporter that it has begun a Mandarin-language news portal aiming at strengthening understanding, and facilitating information between Greece and China.
China.greekreporter.com is the first Greek online news portal made for the people of China, as well as for Chinese-speaking audiences in Greece, and around the world.
“I wish you good luck with your endeavours. It is very good to have the presence of media in both Greece and China because we already have a very good mutual understanding but also a lot of space to improve”, Mr. Katrougalos said.
