Tom Hanks Thriller ‘The Circle’ Premieres April 28

“The Circle”, a new futuristic thriller starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, is set to be released this Friday, on April 28, across all US cinemas.

The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Dave Eggers, and also stars John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt, and Bill Paxton. It follows Mae (Watson) as she takes a job in a powerful Internet company, but soon discovers that the company’s purpose is more nefarious than she first thought.

Tom Hanks plays one of the company’s co-founders, who is trying to convince her of the righteousness of the company’s mission.

The movie deals with issues of privacy and security in a new globalized and technologically advanced world. Hanks’ character, Eamon Bailey, believes that worldwide surveillance and the abolition of privacy are the way forward, while Mae finds herself questioning what effect her actions within the company are having on the future of humanity.

“The Circle” is directed by James Ponsoldt, and from the trailer seems to have plenty of surprising twists and turns throughout the story. Watch the full trailer above, and head to a movie theater near you this weekend to see “The Circle”.
