Tax Income in Greek Households at 82.1 Billion Euros in 2016

The income in Greek households was 75.157 billion euros in 2016, according to income tax statements made to tax agencies last year, with the value of taxed income rising to 82.1 billion euros, official figures showed on Thursday.
A total of 6,194,233 households submitted income tax statements last year for income gained in 2015. The report said that an income of 6.052 billion euros was from exploitation of property, 3.77 billion from capital gains, 4.676 billion from agricultural business, 59.4 billion from wages and pensions and 6.943 billion euros from tax difference.
Sixty-four percent of Greek households reported an income of up to 12,000 euros, of which 38.16 pct an income of up to 5,000 euros. A 91.7 pct of taxpayers reported an annual income of up to 30,000 euros, while only a 0.4 pct of taxpayers reported an annual income of more than 100,000 euros.
The report showed that income tax paid to tax authorities was 8.028 billion euros, with 17.6 pct of households paying 77.13 pct of these sum. A 26.3 pct of households paid no taxes in 2016, while a 17.7 pct said taxes of up to 15 euros. A 4.0 pct of households paid an income tax of more than 6,000 euros.
