Opposition Party Campaigns for Right to Vote of Greeks Living Abroad

voteAn initiative calling on the Greek government to allow Greeks living abroad to vote has been launched by opposition party To Potami.
“The campaign #EimaiKaiGoEdo (I Am Here Too) by To Potami has started. With the initiative of the party youth and communities abroad, today we started an action through social networks to establish the right to postal vote,” the official To Potami announcement says.
The campaign is based on a quiz and a series of photos and videos by members and friends of To Potami abroad who use the hashtag # EimaiKaiGoEdo to express their outrage and explain the reasons why they should vote.
“Greeks abroad should have a say. We should be able to determine the developments in our country using our vote. This way we can pave the way for the return to our homeland. The SYRIZA-ANEL government continues to ignore the Greeks living abroad. By depriving them of their right to vote, is like silencing them,” says the party statement. At the same time it notes that almost half a million Greeks left the country since the onset of the economic crisis.
