Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was a top-rate volleyball player before he started showing an interest in student politics. A leg injury, however, caused him to nip his budding career in the bud. Nonetheless, he can still use a ball and he showed his skill by spinning the basketball with the ease of a member of the Harlem Globetrotters during his meeting with retired NBA player Nikos Galis on Tuesday.
During the meeting, it was announced that the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA) basketball stadium will be named after Nikos Galis. Tsipras told the retired player that the naming of the stadium after him was to thank the living legend for the joy he had offered Greece as a country with his sports achievements.
