ELSTAT: Unemployment in Greece at 24.4% in January

The percentage of unemployment in Greece in January 2016 has dropped to 24.4% in comparison with the 25.7% of January 2015, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT)
The unemployment rate in December 2015 was at 24.3%. The total number of people in work is estimated at 3,613.843 persons. The unemployed have reached the 1,169.119 people, while the non-active population at 3,281.720 people.
In comparison to January 2015, the percentage of people in work elevated by 1.7%. However, in comparison to December of 2015, the percentage dropped by 25,216 people.
The financial non-active persons — people who do not work but do not seek work either — has decreased by 38,402 people in comparison to January 2015 (1.2%) and grew by 19,363 people in comparison to January 2015 (0.6%)
