With all 573,000 votes from 182 countries now counted, the global NameExoWorlds public vote has selected ancient Greek names for three, out of a total of 31, exoplanets and 14 stars, which were officially named via avote organized by the International Astronominal Union (IAU). The three exoplanets are Arion (18 Delphini b), Hypatia (Edasich b or iota Draconis b) and Thestias (Pollux b or beta Geminorum b).
The new names, will be used alongside the scientific names and were selected among a total of 274 put forward by astronomical associations throughout the world.
