Supreme Court Asks Greek Parliament to Lift Immunity of Golden Dawn Leader for New Charge

A Supreme Court prosecutor sent a case file to parliament, on Friday, requesting the lifting of immunity of Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos, , so that he can be charged with incitement to commit crimes.

The case file concerns recorded conversations between Michaloliakos and members of his office from 2011, in which he made threatening and derogatory comments against politicians, journalists and people in the media who have criticized his party.
In these recordings, Michaloliakos is allegedly heard saying, among other things, that “we will get our hands dirty if needed” and “we have an aim and a target, because a large part of the Greek people are on our side right now, otherwise we’d break their heads. I say it to you to get the message through.”
In another part of the recording he says “they should run and hide and be scared because Golden Dawn members are here.”
