U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew called Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Friday to express support for Greece in its talks with its European partners for a mutually acceptable program out of the crisis.
Lew said a solution would be important for fiscal stability in Europe, and he expressed his country’s satisfaction over the talks being held in Brussels on technical and economic level.
According to an announcement from his office, Tsipras reiterated Greece ‘s unwavering intention to reach agreement with its creditors on a program that would end austerity after five years of unprecedented and cruel adjustment, that would put emphasis on necessary reforms, the humanitarian crisis and the reconstruction of the Greek economy.
