Athina Onassis, the only descendant of Greek croesus Aristotle Onassis, and the sole heir to his fortune turned 30 years old last Thursday January 29. One of the most memorable gifts she received for her birthday was her own inheritance.
According to Greek media, the “golden heiress” is finally able to manage her own fortune, which reaches a total of 800 million euros. When Christina and Aristotle Onassis, Athina’s mother and maternal grandfather passed away their mythical fortune was divided in two, one part went to the Onassis Foundation and the second went to Athina.
However, Athina has not been able to lay a hand on the properties or cash that her family left her until now. The court had ruled that her trust fund would open on the day she reached the age of 30.
On January 29, the young heiress received 800 million euros, half of which was in cash, while the rest are in the form of real estate, stocks and bonds.
She has stayed away from the media her entire life, keeping a low profile, and devoting herself to her equestrian career. In 2012 she suffered a spinal injury due to falling off a horse. Her injuries forced her to stay away from the sport for over a year. In 2005, she married the Brazilian Olympic showjumper Álvaro de Miranda Neto and the couple is now living in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
