Meeting Between Greek FinMin Hardouvelis and IMF's Lagarde Concluded

Gikas Hardouvelis IMFThe meeting between Greece’s Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis and IMF Chief Christine Lagarde at the Funds’ headquarters in Washington has officially concluded.
Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras, Antonis Samaras’s advisor Stavros Papastavrou, and Greece’s IMF representative Thanos Katsampas participated in the meeting, along with the head of the IMF’s European department Poul Thomsen and Jerry Rice, Director of the Communication Department.
Concerning the meeting, the IMF published the following statement:
“Ms. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), met today with Gikas Hardouvelis, Greece’s Finance Minister, Yannis Stournaras, Governor of the Bank of Greece, and their colleagues to discuss progress under the program and possible next steps.
“Ms. Lagarde commended the authorities for the significant improvement in Greece’s fiscal position and encouraged them to implement decisively key structural reforms in line with program commitments. She reiterated the Fund’s commitment to supporting Greece in continuing to achieve program objectives.”
