The Hellenic Initiative (THI), a global nonprofit whose mission is to mobilize the Greek diaspora to support sustainable economic renewal for Greece and its people announced its second annual banquet set to take place in New York on October 2nd, 2014.
The focus of the banquet is “Investing in the Future of Greece,” and all funds raised will support nonprofit organizations responding to the ongoing economic crisis in Greece. The prominent group will be joined by THI’s honorary patron President Bill Clinton.
The event will honor George D. Behrakis, John Pappajohn, and Peter G. Peterson. The three distinguished Greek-Americans have excelled in their professional fields and have proved to be pillars of Philanthropy and Hellenism.
In 2013, at the Inaugural Banquet marking The Hellenic Initiative’s one year anniversary, the organization raised $1.9 million, making the event one of the most successful fundraising initiatives ever within the Greek-American community.
The Hellenic Initiative is a global, nonprofit, secular institution whose vision is to mobilize the Greek diaspora and philhellene community to support sustainable economic renewal for Greece and its people. Its programs pursue multiple strategies, but share a common focus on responsible investment – in strong nonprofit organizations responding to the crisis today and in leaders, entrepreneurs and businesses creating opportunity for tomorrow.
