Nikos Tagaras and Theofilos Leontaridis are to replace their Nea Dimokratia colleagues Maximus Charakopoulos and Stavros Kalafatis, following their resignations, as Deputy Ministers for Environment and Agriculture, respectively.
Kalafatis is now running for mayor of Thessaloniki, while Charakopoulos resigned on Saturday over proposed milk reform.
Charakopoulos protested against the dairy product reform, according to which Greek dairy companies will buy cheaper milk from abroad, thus damaging domestic production in Greece.
The appointment of the deputy ministers was announced after a Monday morning meeting between Greece’s Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and the president of PASOK, Evangelos Venizelos, at which it was decided that a reshuffle wasn’t necessary.
