Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz will be starring in Yorgos Lanthimos new film entitled The Lobster. This time, the Greek director’s film will be in the English language.

It has already been announced that actors Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Olivia Colman, Ariane Labed and Aggeliki Papoulia are also cast in the film.

Variety magazine described the movie as an “unconventional love story set in a dystopian future where finding a partner is a matter of life and death.” The script was co-written by Yorgos Lanthimos and his collaborator Efthimis Filippou.

The shooting will start on March 24, in Ireland and will be financed by the UK BFI Film Fund, the Irish Film Board, Eurimages (European Cinema Support Fund), the Greek Film Centre, CNC (French National Centre of Cinematography and the moving image) as well as the Dutch Film Fund.

“I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to work with such great actors. Their contribution to our film will enrich and expand the world we are trying to create and explore. Furthermore, our team of old and new collaborators makes me very confident and excited to start making this film,” stated Yorgos Lanthimos.

Greece’s director Yorgos Lanthimos was nominated for an Oscar in 2011, for the movie Dogtooth in the Best Foreign Language Film of the Year category.
