Mt. Athos Cuisine Travels to Paris

Mt. AthosThe authentic monastic cuisine of Mount Athos, Greece, traveled to the luminous and cosmopolitan Paris, presenting French people with the simple diet of the monks which is mainly based on the use of organic products from the mainland and sea.

The Greek chef Dina Nikolaou prepared a 5-course dinner which was hosted in a central restaurant in Paris, as a part of the promotion of “Mount Athos Area Kouzina” culinary institution. The dinner was attended by 20 French journalists and the famous gastronomy consultant Sébastien Ripari.

“The initiative of the Organization for the Tourism Development of the region around Mt. Athos was the third attempt to incorporate the Athos region in the French market. In the four previous years the activities of the Organization along with the support of the Greek National Tourist Organization (EOT) office in France, resulted in numerous articles concerning the Athos region and an impressive increase in French visitors’ arrivals to the area,” stated the Organization for the Tourism Development of the region around Mt. Athos.

It is also mentioned that for the fist time accommodation proposals for the region around Athos were included in online catalogs of French tourist offices.

Furthermore, the dinner achieved such great success that a second one was organized at the same restaurant. During the second dinner, Dina Nikolaou presented eleven spokespersons with the tourist potential of the region and its unique history and characteristics which affect the local cuisine and make it so special.
