Karelia: Most Employee-Friendly Company in Greece


Greek tobacco company Karelia, in a time when the Greek economic recession deepened, gave its employees bonuses of up to 2.5 million euros, while the company made investments of up to 3 million euros.
During 2012-2013, the total grants to employees surpassed an amount of 5 million euros. Meanwhile, in 2013, Karelias hired 35 people.
The chief executive officer (CEO) of the company gave a speech during the company’s celebratory event for New Year’s Eve. He announced that the company will grant a bonus of 800 euros for every employee that has not missed a day from work. He also announced that further grants of up to 2,600 euros would be given to all the company’s employees, and a series of other bonuses to those employees whose children are continuing their studies.
