The Hellenic Society for Disabled Children gives the opportunity for people to offer to the community through a program of “economic adoptions.” This program gives the opportunity for those who can afford it, to offer financial assistance  to Greek families with children who are disabled and do not have insurance, helping them cope with the cost of the rehabilitation program.
A press conference organized by the Hellenic Society of Disabled Children and its director Lena Chrani stated, “during times when the number of uninsured children increases, there is an urgent need to find resources to meet their needs.”
In the donation adoption program, are included disabled children of economically challenged families who come to the organization for their necessary rehabilitation, therapy and an educational program. These families have to cope with not only the lack of financial resources and insurance to cover the cost of the treatments, but also with the problem of their child and the financial difficulties arising from it. “We already have 10 children who are integrated in the program but there is a need for double the number” explained Mrs. Chrani.
The cost for financially adopting a child amounts to 3,000 euros per year and the donor is requested to cover all or part of it, or even share it with one or more people.
