Greek-Australian rock goddess Orianthi Panagaris, better known simply as Orianthi, has jammed alongside some of the most legendary musicians in history. The 28-year-old guitarist/singer-songwriter has played with the likes of Santana, the late Michael Jackson, and Alice Cooper — to name a few — and she’s well on her way to becoming a legend in her own right.
Named one of the 12 Greatest Female Electric Guitarists by Elle magazine, and crowned “Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year” in 2010 by Guitar International, the platinum selling artist made waves on the music charts with her hit single “According to You” off her 2009 album Believe. Fast forward a few years later, and Orianthi is garnering rave reviews for her latest album, Heaven in This Hell. With the popularity of the original release in March, a deluxe version drops Sept. 3 that features three new bonus tracks — “Another You (Alternate Mix),” “Better With You,” and “Sex E Bizarre,” a duet with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
Orianthi, who is playing a few local shows — including the Troubador in L.A. with Dave Stewart on Sept. 12 — heads back out on tour as lead guitarist for Alice Cooper in a few weeks. Greek Reporter sat down with the musician in-between gigs to talk about Heaven in This Hell, her success, and what a badass female rockstar does in her spare time (Hint: she likes to hang around the kitchen…a lot).
