Police Ask Data on 141 FB Users

Screenshot_64According to a report published by the social network Facebook, the Greek Police asked for information on 141 Greek FB users during the first half of 2013.
According to the newspaper Vima, the report reveals that Facebook totally received such requests about personal data for about 38,000 user accounts from the authorities of 74 countries.
This information was requested for official investigations involving mostly kidnapping and robbery cases. However, in most cases the police authorities only asked for basic information (such as full names).
The social network admitted as well that more private info, such as IP addresses and profile content have also been requested.
According to the report, the USA made the most requests (11,000) for the most users (over 21,000), hitting 79%. The UK (1,975 requests for 2,337 users) and Germany (1,886 requests for 2,068 users) came second and third respectively.
