Police said four home invaders in Corinthia set on fire a 78-year-old man in a wheelchair to make him reveal where he had his money and got away with 4,000 euros. He was reported in serious condition in the hospital.
The incident happened on Aug. 16 in Asprokambos. Authorities said the man was found with burns over 90 percent of his body and that he was so disoriented thought at first the he had been the victim of robbery and thought that an accident had happened to him.
During his hospitalization, the old man managed to talk and told doctors what happened to him and remembered the perpetrators threw a blanket over him while he was on fire so he could say where the money was. He said after the got the loot they threw alcohol on his burns to intensify his agony.
Neighbors heard his cries and informed police who arrived too late to catch the thieves.
