Patriarch Cyril Visits Mount Athos

The Russian Patriarch and his entourage were welcomed at the port of Daphne by the Civil Governor of Mount Athos, Aristos Kasmiroglou, monks and pilgrims and was accompanied by car to Karyes.
Cyril was welcomed with honors at Karyes by the first superintendent Maximus, the members of the sacred stewardship and representatives of the twenty monasteries of Mount Athos and then a doxology at the Church of Protaton was performed.
After the doxology, the Russian Patriarch will visit the Holy Community Hall, where he will discuss with the Athonite Fathers for a while and after lunch he will depart from Karyes to St. Panteleimon’s monastery.
The Patriarch of Moscow will spend all his nights at Mount Athos, at the St. Panteleimon’s monastery, where he will celebrate mass tomorrow and then visit the Great Lavra and Iviron Monasteries. On June 6, he will visit the Monastery of Vatopedi, the Chilandar and the Pantokrator Monastery.
