Greece Won’t Get Back on its Feet

grass51-300x227German author Günter Gras, awarded with the 1999 Nobel Prize in Literature, highly criticized Angela Merkel and her government for their position regarding the European crisis.

In his interview to the German TV station Phoenix, Gras said, “I consider it a disgrace, when Germany, as a heavily indebted country forces other countries to follow a very strict austerity policy. These are cuts until you drop, for countries like Greece, as he said. “They won’t manage to get back on their feet”.

He said that Germany is a country that suffers from corruption, which extends from the banking to the sports sector.

“There’s no reason for such an arrogant attitude, as showed by Angela Merkel. That brings us enemies,” he said. “With a smart policy, such as the one that Willy Brandt was forced to adopt in much more difficult times, this could be avoided.”
