The Actor's House Opens its Doors

assets_LARGE_t_420_54190242_type12128The Actor’s House, Anna Fonsou’s life dream, was inaugurated on April 15 with a beautiful and warm event. Fonsou is a well-known Greek actress born in 1939.
In the picture are Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens, Anna Fonsou, and Despoina Stylianopoulou on the right, at the Actor’s House.
Fonsou, who was overwhelmed by emotion, is the “soul” of the whole enterprise, the person who believed in this dream and tried hard for 25 years to create a house which would welcome homeless actors. Now the Actor’s House can house homeless actors and drama school students from the province. Already, since April 14, Andreas Barkoulis and his family have been staying at the house on Thiras and Alkamenous 175, in Kato Patisia. Barkoulis is also a famous Greek actor born in 1936.
The inauguration was officiated by Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens. During the opening, the roofed pedestrian walk on Panathinaion Street was filled with flowers and laughter. Everybody wished the best for this new admirable initiative.
The building is formed as a guest house where actors are welcome to stay, while there are also common rooms for recreation. It looks rather like a big house embellished with personal items of famous actors, furniture and portraits. In a second building on the same street a special place for cultural activities will be hosted, such as for exhibitions, conferences, seminars as well as drama school and theater for children.
