Macedonian Music, Dance In Melbourne

Federation-SquareThe Greek Cultural Council ENOSIS organized in collaboration with the Italian, Hungarian and Brazilian communities the ENOSI Cultural Festival, that was held in Melbourne’s Federation Square, which hosts more than 2,000 events annually.

There was a carnival reunion of cultures comprising dance, songs, music and several activities but what stood out was the performance by the musical-dancing group of Thessaloniki Voiakiki Estia. Sixteen dancers and four brass instrument musicians gave a taste of Greece in the heart of the city, charming the audience.

Voiakiki Estia’s dance group also attended the Greek Glendi which took place in the Pontian Community of Melbourne and Victoria, on March 10. The President of the Greek Cultural Council, P. Mavroudis, while talking about the festival and the importance of its objectives, stressed that “We want all Australians, wherever we come from, to live in harmony and to highlight as well as share our rich cultural heritage.”

The Prime Minister of Victoria, Melbourne’s Mayor and other ministers and politicians attended the festival as well, joining with an appreciative audience who had the chance to hear and see the Greek performers give a standout show.
