Dutch To Give Info On Moored Greek Yachts

yachts to GreeceDutch tax authorities said they will provide details onĀ  hundreds of Greek yachts anchored in ports in the Netherlands, Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem told Parliament, in the latest effort to boost tax income in Greece.
The comments came as the lawmakers debated whether to give support for the next installment of international aid for Greece, some of which comes from the Netherlands. Tax evasion in Greece has been a source of friction among some members of the Eurozone, who bristle at the idea of giving Greece more money when so many Greeks aren’t paying taxes, including the rich who have yachts.
Dijsselbloem said he “immediately looked into this” after it was raised by members of the parliamentary opposition. “We informed the Greek authorities about this so they can levy taxes.” He said that, “This kind of information is critical to enable the Greeks to impose taxes.” He didn’t provide any immediate details, however.
