Top Greek Restaurants in Montreal

Greek-Canadians living and working in Montreal form one of the strongest Diaspora communities across Canada, so it is quite expected and natural to find some of the best Greek cuisine restaurants there, which offer delicious dishes with all traditional flavors and products from the homeland, including tzatziki, gyros, calamari, lamb and loukoumades. So if you’re looking for a dinner out in town that will bring back memories of Greece or simply travel you through the Mediterranean country, these are some of the most praised places to please the palate and stomach.

Milos Restaurant has been rated one of the best seafood restaurants in Montreal always serving fresh fish dishes. The Greek art decor is beautiful and the atmosphere very ambient, while the service is most professional and fast. The fried vegetables (zucchini and eggplants), crab cakes and cod croquettes are some of the best options. The highlight of Milos, however, is their baklava ice cream dessert which is considered to be the finest in all Canada. The restaurant is pricey though (especially during dinner hours), but can always stand out as the best option on a special occasion or during lunchtime. [5357, Avenue Du Parc Montreal, QC H2V 4G9]

Marathon Souvlaki is a family run restaurant best known for its excellent souvlaki and most delicious salad. You can either eat there or take away, and the service is always fast and friendly. With generous portions and reasonable prices, you can eat at any three restaurants, which are usually packed during lunch time. However, don’t worry, the wait time after you place your order is limited. [5365 des Jockeys (Décarie Centre), Montreal. (Also 3938 Notre-Dame, Laval, and 3313 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux)]

Marvens Restaurant has been a favorite for Greek cuisine enthusiasts ever since it first opened in 1973. The family-run restaurant is the right place to go if you’re starving, even if its exterior seems a bit off. The portions are huge and the noise never stops as it’s always packed. The old decor with the moose head on the wall hides plain yet delicious dishes, such as calamari, gyros and tzatziki. Make sure to always have cash on you because the restaurant does not accept credit or debit cards. [800 Ball Avenue, (Park Extension), Montreal]

Tripolis Restaurant is best known for serving food to late sleepers. So if you are out at 3 a.m. and have the urge to eat calamari or spanakopita, this is the ideal place to go to. Lamb chops, octopus, rib-steak, and catch-of- the- day fish, are specialties of the open late hours eatery, while portions are large to fully satisfy your appetite. Enjoy the ouzo and food beyond the regular lunch and dinner hours, but make a reservation to be sure. [ 5034 Samson Blvd., Laval]

Mythos Ouzeri Estiatorio stays open late and guarantees not only loads of Greek food but also dancing to the tunes of the bouzouki band performing from Thursday to Sunday. Specialties include fried bread with a pepper and feta cheese dip, mincemeat patties with mint combined with traditional lamb, seafood appetizers and main courses, fresh fish and more. The restaurant’s patio makes it perfect for the summertime. The decor is basic and reminds more of a cafe bar, but the service is good and the menu will more than stuff you up. [5318, ave. Du Parc (corner Fairmount), Montreal, QC, H2V 4G7]
