Asyrtiko Wine of Santorini Taps Australian Market

Many Greek wine varieties are luring tourists and attracting new customers, leading several wine producers to enter foreign markets all over the globe and export their products. In 2015, the Asyrtiko variety of Santorini is expected to be produced in Australia for the first time, although the variety has already been cultivated in the country.

Asyrtiko was been on sale only a few years in Greece, and was transferred to Australia in order to cultivate the variety there and a winery in the Clare Valley area in South Australia started growing it. The first Australia-based vineyard using the Greek grape has been realized, although it will take a few years before Australians can enjoy its wine.
